You’re definitely selling your house this summer. Maybe you have a new job in another city starting in the Fall. Whatever your situation, if you’re selling your Prime Vancouver home during the summer months, you’re going to want to do all you can both now and then to make sure it sells before summer’s gone. Here are a few things that can make sure that sell happens:

It was so nice and warm and cozy being all closed in with the drapes pulled and the fire roaring this winter, wasn’t it? But now that it’s time to pull those drapes back, maybe open the window, and let the sunlight pour in, oh my goodness… what ARE those apparitions and smoke stains on the walls? Vancouver real estate buyers want to see the light shine, too, but don’t like being distracted by thinking of all the work they’ll have to do after they buy your home.

So start cleaning or maybe even painting now. If everything’s dark and way too cosy, make it white or light. Help buyers envision themselves and their own belongings in your home by getting rid of or cleaning up or painting over anything that disturbs their pretty perfect picture of themselves and their things in your home. Declutter, clean, scrub and paint light into your home.

Visualize Whirled Peas, But Bake Cinnamon Rolls

When the time comes to start showing your home, just simply leave. Don’t be there. And don’t leave stuffy smells behind. No one likes whirled peas but your neighbour’s 10-year-old quirky kid with a love of homonyms and green stuff. For some reason, it makes your home smell cozy and warm and loving without noxious sprays or deodorizers. So before you leave your home each day, just pop some baking rolls in your oven sprinkled on top with sugar and cinnamon, and let that homey aroma fill your home. You’ll have a nice treat to share with coworkers, while buyers will get a refreshing homey feel when they visit your home.
