Why I am Grateful: Reasons for gratitude, even for competitors

As some of you know, a great amount of my success as a professional realtor and as an investor is due to the fact that I practice gratitude in all things in my life. Especially near the end of the year, I like to encourage everyone around me to demostrate gratitude and appreciation for all of the wonderful gifts that we have in our lives. I am so grateful for my entire family, all of my clients, all of my investors, my buyers and sellers, my tenants, and of course all of you. Without you, my entire career wouldn’t be possible.

About 2 years ago, I spent some time in Japan in the district of Shijuku, with good friends of mine, and I came accorss a name Wahei Takeda. He’s known to be the Warren Buffett of Japan, and he was able to amass a large wealth from zero since WWII. Let me share what he is famous for… its about being thankful…

Wahei is famous for saying that the most important thing that you can do every day, the thing that was responsible for him making billions of dollars, is:

“Be thankful 1,000 times a day.”

This is such a joy to hear, isn’t it so? And it is so powerful! In any field! I must admit there were times in my life when I actually didnt feel like doing this, but I am much more attuned to this now a days. Wahei calls it, “Maro Up.” “Maro” means, being thankful.

When Wahei buys a company, he goes to the CEO and communicates to them that he would like them to learn the technique of being thankful.

This idea of being thankful must be really basic and fundamental to some kind of law of nature. It rises up to support you. That’s what I’ve seen in my life.

What are You Grateful For?

I would like each of you to entertain the idea about practicing this, because it’s so powerful and yet so simple. All you have to do is be aware to be thankful, and do it as much as you can.

Be thankful for the clean air. Be thankful for your family making you dinner. Just be thankful for being able to breath another day and to be trully alive!

That’s all it is. Put yourself in that trance and mindset of gratitude each and every day that you wake up. Find the small things to be thankful  for every day. I’ll tell you there’s something about this that’s so powerful. It can turn you into a very successful real estate investor.

In every wisdom teaching, there is an element of gratifude. From the old Vedas to modern new age scriptures, being gratfeful opens the way to so many opportunities, and this includes abundance in every facet, including real estate.

Every business owner who has a web based business has at some point had the following thought:

“Why am I giving away all my hard-earned wisdom for free when my competition could easily snap it up and use it against me?”

But if we examine the above statement carefully we note that there is a sence of scarcity and fear, which is just the opposite of gratitude and abundance.

Here is a twist: Can you be thankful to your competition?

We all hope we’ll be the only person with this particular business innovation or that particular moment of genius, and that our idea is what launches us into greatness. Sometimes we’re right, sometimes we’re wrong, but the point is that it doesn’t do to blog about the unique ideas that makes you different and special.

Except sometimes it does. Here are four reasons to love that the competition reads your blog.

You’re a leader, not a follower

When you’re the first person to do something, you establish yourself as the person who has ideas. So every person in the hemisphere has the same exact idea in place four weeks later – so what? You’re still going to be the one who launched it, and people will refer back to you years later as the innovator of that new fantastic idea – you know, the one that was so fantastic that everyone in the world absolutely had to jump on the bandwagon.

It doesn’t matter if your competition does the exact same thing as you did. You did it first, which very often means you did it best. By “best”, I mean that you profited from it.

Don’t be afraid of putting your ideas on the table. You’re the one who isn’t a copycat. You’re the one blazing new trails. You’re the one going where no one has gone before.

Competition inspires you to create new things

Without competition, we’d still be listening to 8-tracks. That’s not a joke; media players have expanded by leaps and bounds because someone is always ready to jump in there with a new idea. A better quality of music, one that never skips or sounds fuzzy, for example. What about a player that’s easy and fun to use? What about digital audio?

Without competition, these ideas would never have become reality, because there would be no one out there creating something better than 8-tracks.

When you have competition, you have to improve. You can’t rest on your laurels because there’s someone doing what you do with a new gadget tacked on that makes it even better. Someone’s going to come up with a brand new game changer. And that’s a good thing, because it means two things:

Life will never be boring. And your business will never be stagnant.

I love my business

This is why I thrive at what I do – I am innovative, and consequently followed and copied….

Competition means differentiation.

Let’s suppose you and your competitor both market homes for sale on the internet. It has the exact same content.
It has almost the exact same words, in fact. So what makes yours better than the next guy’s?

Competition means you have to figure out why a customer should prefer your product to anyone else’s. Maybe yours comes with an extra value added tool to the client. Maybe you have real SEO techniques which competitors are just scrambling to catch up to.
You see, differentiation means you can offer a TRUE EDGE to your clients… and you simply rule the roast in your market.

We get excited about our product – our marketing expertise  – and this is why we are followed…

Gratitude makes you confident.

When you’re the only person doing what you do, you’re not always certain you’re doing it right. Heck, you’re not even sure that you do it the best. You’re just the person who does it. That’s all you can say about yourself. You can’t say you do it better than anyone else, either, because no one else does it. You’re just there.

That’s . . . not very exciting.

When you have gratitude, you have the motivation to improve your product, promotion etc… We can gain track and see just exactly how to beat the competition and meanwhile benefiting YOU through our unparalleled real estate digital marketing.

Being able to say that you’re better for whatever reason gives you confidence in your business and in your product. You feel capable of taking on someone else because you can see that what you’ve done is superior to what they’ve done.

Now… THAT’S a good feeling!

And it’s going to translate into a confidence that affects your sales, your demeanour, and ultimately the success of your business.

    Business rivalry in todays day in age has aspired to be almost as certain as death and taxes. We are constantly looking to improve in order to keep up with the competition. Putting our efforts into creating rather than imitating seems to make more logical sense since we can pioneer to new ground. All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual. I only hope this article may inspire others as it has done for me. Thanks for the post.
